Home Sweet Home

So a few days ago, I told you about the incredible fabric market in Bejiing. Well the curtains and chair covers are finished and up, so I wanted to share a few pictures of the finished product -- and take you on a little tour of at least part of our house. (These are the parts of my apartment that I like and feel like home!)

The fabric I chose for our chair covers and curtains.

The finished curtain, and a glimpse of the view out our living room window.

The living room. All of the furniture belongs to the landlord, and it was certainly a blessing not to need to buy all those things!

The decorative touches are my own... a tapestry from India (purchased in China), and a Tibetan scarf.

Our bedroom.

Our dining room, with newly covered chairs thanks to my amazing husband!

There are a few other random things I want to share with you, but we're having a wedding at our organization today, and I'm the decorating coordinator/flower arranger. I only have 20 minutes until I need to leave, so the other random things will have to wait until later. This has officially become a post only about the way my apartment looks. I'm sorry if you were expecting something more meaningful, like about orphans or something else deep and thoughtful. Sometimes I can't help it... I'm a girl.

p.s. is it possible to set up the ND blog comments like this one? I can comment here, but, not on that one.

Oh gosh! It is gorgeous!!! You really have an eye for that kind of thing. I love the fabric you chose. So pretty!

It is so warm and cozy, I am thinking about inviting myself for a nice vacation! LOL!

Carrie, it is beautiful! Thank you for letting us get a glimpse of your home. The fabric is simply beautiful too. I'm pretty sure we have the same duvet cover on our guest bed! Again, good taste! Can I ask about the wood on the wall in the dining room. Is it decorative or does it serve another purpose as well? I'm intrigued by it. I like your vinyl lettering by the way (wink, wink)
Blessings!

You're so cute!...you can't be serious all the time. Gotta have some fun and do some girly stuff now and then, too!! :) Love Val's letters up on the wall...great to see it all put together. The fabric is really pretty, too.

Have a blessed weekend! <><

@AlyAbox - I need to leave the comments on the other blog as moderated. (i.e. - I have to approve them before they appear.) I'm not sure why you aren't able to comment -- it should be no different. Maybe you could have a techie help you out?

@Valerie - I think the wood paneling is just decorative. It was here when we moved in; it's very Chinese-style!

It looks really good, Carrie. Now, how's that dress that the lady was making you coming along?

I think we all need something light hearted and fun every now and then! personally, I love to see how other people live, especially in other parts of the world. I'm Robyn, by the way, a Georgia girl in the process of adopting a boy, SN, from China. Your blog has enlightened me, encouraged me, and brought me to my knees in prayer more than you will ever know!
Thank you!
